▲ apparition is a magical form of teleportation, through which a witch or wizard can disappear from one location and reappear in another. it is sometimes accompanied by a distinctive cracking or popping sound, though this is associated with ineptitude rather than success; the most skilled wizards can apparate suddenly and silently that they seem to have popped out of the ground. the act is also accompanied by a very unpleasant squeezing sensation, as though being sent through a tight rubber tube.
▲ for reasons of security, the grounds of hogwarts are protected by ancient anti-apparition and anti-disapparition spells, which prevent humans from using apparition in the school grounds. this does not extend to magical creatures such as house-elves and phoenixes, who can still use their own form of apparition.
▲ apparition is learned through the ministry. a witch or wizard must be 17 years old to a licensed apparitioner
▲ an animagus is a witch or wizard who can turn into a particular animal at will. not everyone can do it.

▲ it is a rare ability and can only be inherited genetically.
▲ a metamorphagi can choose their looks and completely change their appearance. not all metamorphagi are able to control their ability to this point, and even then, different levels of control take a very long time to learn. those who can't control their ability very well, will often have a change of hair/eye color based on moods/emotions.
▲ they can't completely change into animals or other non human beings
▲ this is the counter skill to legilimency.
▲ this ability prevents a legilimens from extracting feelings and memories from the occlumens mind
▲ this is a very difficult skill to learn. it isn't something that can be mastered right away, as proved by harry potter himself. it takes years and years to master.
▲ there are many different types of seers. the most common are those who can see either the past or the future (note: they cannot see both) when they touch someone. these visions do not happen every time they touch someone, however it is common (especially when coming into contact with a stranger). seers are also known to have visions when they come into contact with items or their visions come to them in dreams. some seers can only see particular bits and pieces of a person, it all depends on their strength. no two seers are completely alike in ability and none are all powerful.
▲ one common thing between all seers is that their visions are painful (usually there is some form of an intense headache. visions can also cause insomnia.

▲ vervain is a heard that is poisonous to vampires. it hurts them severely if they come in contact with it in any form. if taken by humans, it can prevent compulsion and their blood will be poisonous to a vampire. it can be mixed into liquids or laced into certain jewellery. this herb is very, very, hard to find so, don't think everyone can have it.
▲ vampires are able to use compulsion to alter the actions of humans. please don't take advantage of this skill, seeing as vampires generally only use it in necessary situations.
▲ staking a vampire through the heart or ripping their hearts out will kill them automatically. that is it. end of story.
▲ werewolf bites to a vampire is toxic and fatal. it will kill a vampire.
▲ vampires can not beget children with humans or other vampires
▲ vampires are able to go into the sunlight as long as they possess what is known as a daylight ring. a daylight ring needs to be charmed by a witch and if the vampire takes it off during the day, they will be burned alive. luckily for vampires, there are lots of witches able to charm their rings, they just need to find one willing
▲ in order to turn into a vampire. you have to die with vampire blood in your system. if a vampire gives you their blood and you then die, no matter what the circumstances, you will be turned into a vampire.
▲ vampires can drink blood from humans, animals and blood bags. human blood is the most satisfying, and animal blood and blood bags are also possible. a vampire can survive for a week without blood without losing control of their bloodlust. a vampire will never 'die' without blood, they will just go into a decaying, comatose state.
▲ vampires have heightened senses. they can see things, hear things and feel things much more vividly than humans. meaning when they feel emotion, it is magnified.

▲ veelas are a race of semi-human, semi-magical creatures.
▲ pure veelas appear to be young, beautiful human women, and their appearance and especially their dance are magically seductive to almost all males. when veelas are angry, however, they transform -- their faces turn into cruel-beaked bird heads and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders, and they can launch balls of fire from their hand. pure veelas are very, very, rare - if anymore exist at all. we will not be accepting any pure veelas
▲ they are born with the veela blood. it is purely genetically and passes from mother to her children. males can inherit this gene but, they do not pass it along.
▲ hogwarts does not allow full of half veelas because of this dominant behaviour. it is more common to see witches/wizards with 1/8th veela blood or less.
▲ this a practiced ability and it is extremely, extremely difficult to master. it takes years and years of practice. only a handful of old witches and wizards in history have managed to master this ability.
